We teach the Classical Okinawan martial art of Shobayashi-Ryu (Shorin Ryu) in a friendly, engaging, and hard-working environment where all students can reach their full potential. The Classical Martial Arts Academy’s mission is to create happier, healthier, and more vibrant communities (Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox) through the study and practice of authentic Okinawan martial arts. Our school culture is dedicated to the use of martial arts not only for fitness, self-defense, and competition, but also for the betterment of the individual and the community. We do not rush students through ranks, and you will never be lost in the crowd. Tommy Revell, Sensei, the school’s founder and chief instructor, teaches and oversees every class personally. 

The Classical Martial Arts Academy is a Classical, Okinawan martial arts school dedicated to preserving the Shobayashi-Ryu branch of Shorin-Ryu karate-do. As such, the art taught at the Classical Martial arts Academy has a verifiable lineage traced to Okinawa. Revell, Sensei is a personal student of Sensei, Tony D’Angelo, and Hanshi, Bill Hayes, and traces his lineage in Shobayashi-Ryu directly through Hanshi, Shimabukuro Eizo, with headquarters in Ginoza-Son Okinawa, Japan.
